Letter to my pre-pandemic self – Vol 8

This week’s letter is written by my friend Marcel. His advice is on point. Marcel reminds us that spring always follows winter and not to lose our sense of optimism.

I met Marcel when he enrolled in a “Starting a Business” program I was teaching. He is a very talented photographer whose work has been published in several online publications.

Dear Marcel

Having the insight into how the next six months are going to look for you, here are some things to consider.

Spring always comes after winter

It doesn’t matter how long and hard the winter is, spring will always follow.

This will be true for you too; there will be a lot of moments when you will feel lost and you don’t know what to do, but try to be calm and endure.

Don’t lose your optimism

It is easy to say you’re an optimist when everything is going OK in your life. But, in the next few months, you will have the chance to practice it in some hard and new situations. There will be moments when you will have to dig down inside you and find what helps you go forward. Use it to motivate yourself to move on. It will be a good opportunity for you to center yourself and maybe re-evaluate what you want to do in your life. Although you might feel that things around you will stop, every moment is precious, try to enjoy it.

Exercise

Life as you know it will change and you will have to adapt. It doesn’t matter how things are, you have to take care of your body. It sounds easy but it will be something you will struggle with. So try to take some time every day and train.

It will be an experience that will change how you will value things in your life. We still don’t know how life will be when this will be over. But as I said at the beginning, “Spring always follows”. I believe human beings are very resilient. I have full confidence that together we can find a way to the next spring.
